THE WEEKLY WRAP-UP.
This week on Facebook & Instagram’s world we were able to find news about a new secret ad service! We will also be covering QR code-related updates on both platforms, as well as sharing with you a nice Digiday article about Instagram Stories being major traffic drivers.
WEEKLY NEWS #1: FACEBOOK’S SECRET “LOYALTY PREDICTION” AD SERVICE
“Black-sheep” online publisher The Intercept, known for leaking Edward Snowden’s documents, reported this week on a new feature using Artificial Intelligence to predict purchase behaviours.
While this capability is no news in the paid media world, with features called “in-market” or “propensity to buy”, the extent of Facebook’s power can be a game-changer for advertisers as the firm’s data is undoubtedly very qualitative. Will Mark Z. release this feature in the next few months?

WEEKLY NEWS #2: NEW QR CODE USE ON FACEBOOK & INSTAGRAM
Techcrunch reported a couple days ago a new feature on Instagram called “Nametags” that aims to recreate the experience that Snapchat created back in 2015 with its Snapcodes. One more reason to switch from S to IG?

Facebook is also working on a similar feature for Pages with the ability to create a poster that includes a QR code linked to a Facebook Page. Broadly used across Asia, this new option will hit most likely Hong Kong very soon.

- National Geographic uses a similar mechanism to push followers to subscribe to themed-newsletters but NEVER to push print magazine subscriptions.
- Quartz is testing the other way around by adapting its Quartz Obsession newsletter to Instagram Stories and push more followers to the IG account content.
