THE WEEKLY WRAP-UP.
After the Cambridge Analytica scandal, Facebook is working on a revamp of the custom audiences permissions, as well as removing the third-party data targeting capabilities. Facebook also released an enhanced media sharing experience in the Messenger App with 360 degrees photos and HD videos!
WEEKLY NEWS #1: WIP CUSTOM AUDIENCES PERMISSIONS
Facebook has confirmed to Techcrunch they are building a tool for advertisers to certify they have the right to use the custom audience data uploaded to the Audience Manager. For instance, when you are uploading to Facebook a list of emails from your database.
This news is also related to the upcoming GDPR law that will give people within the European Union more control over their data, in this case, an email address is a personal piece of data. Hence, Facebook – and other marketing companies – will have to adjust their tools for marketers to comply with the new laws.

WEEKLY NEWS #2: NO MORE THIRD-PARTY DATA TARGETING
In 7 countries, Hong Kong not being one of them, Facebook was providing third-party data for marketers to use as targeting in the “interest” section of the audience setup. For instance, in the US you could have used the Oracle Data Cloud data “People in households that are likely to buy an Audi in the next 180 days”.
The social media platform is now removing this “Partner Categories” targeting to “help improve people’s privacy on Facebook”, according to the official statement.
WEEKLY NEWS #3: 360 DEGREES PHOTOS AND HD VIDEOS SHARED VIA THE MESSENGER APP
The Facebook Messenger will now support sending and receiving 360 degrees photos and 720p videos.
This experience enhancement is aligned with the increased usage of the app – Whatsapp like usage – that we’ve seen over the past month with more and more ads showing up.
